It's another week! Things are rolling along. You might notice some new faces at the cafe'. We have several new servers and hosts, so please let us know how we're doing and what we can do to make our service the best it can be. Email us.
We'll be closed Saturday-Monday this weekend for Memorial Day Weekend. While Jason takes the girls to Riverfest, I'll be taking it easy at home. I'm looking forward to it ; )
We won't be holding a May Wine Dinner, but our June Wine Dinner has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 25th. Be sure to reserve early.
The baby is close! If you 've seen me lately, you'll know what I mean. Doc says it could be any day now. I have been taking it as easy as possible to keep my blood pressure stable, and it appears to have paid off. As long as baby Jude is ready, I know I am!

May Is Here
Here we are again! It's May already, and lots of things are changing and happening at the cafe'. You'll see lots of new faces, as we have some new servers and hosts to take care of you. I am there less and less these days, as Baby Jude has dropped and contractions have started off and on. The due date is June 6th-- we'll see if we make it!
We have sold quite a bit of art in the last several weeks, so you'll see some new pieces. If you see something you love, remember that you can negotiate the price. Just let your server know what it is you'd like to offer, and we'll contact the artist and see if s/he will take it. It can't hurt to offer.
The wheels are turning for our big move-- August 15th is our new opening date in Argenta, which is better for me than June : ) We'll keep you posted as construction progresses. We (finally!) have a sign in the window at 411 Main in Argenta, so if you drive by you'll be able to see where we are moving.
This weekend we'll be serving red beans and rice at the Preservation Hall Jazz Band concerts on Friday and Saturday nights at Robinson Music Hall. Stop by and say hi if you're there jammin'.

I'm Back!
It's been a couple of weeks since I've posted; the restaurant has been rolling right along, and we are cruising right along until our move to Argenta. The latest on the move is that our new target date to open there is August 15th-- so we'll be at our current space until then. A lot of people call and ask if we have already moved, but it won't be until the end of the summer it looks like now. So please keep coming to our current space until the big move across the river. We will let everyone know when the actual move will finally take place.
Speaking of big-- baby Jude is taking over (if you've seen me lately you'll know what I'm talking about). I've been battling high blood pressure, hence the reason I'm only in the cafe' a couple of hours a day. I'm taking it as easy as possible (given I work 3 jobs and homeschool our 4 and 6 year old daughters). I hope to make it full term.

We're Halfway Through March
Time is flying-- we're already halfway through March! It was a bittersweet weekend. We said goodbye to Ryan, our wonderful server who has been with us for over a year and a half. He is heading to California to play with a band that is starting its tour next week, so while we wish him the best, we're sure going to miss him!
Needless to say, we're now hiring-- looking for a server to work lunches/brunch 6 days/week plus Friday nights. It's a great opportunity for someone looking for day work (3-4 hours/day) who has another night job or is going to school at night. We also offer paid health insurance. Can't beat that! You can apply in person or online.
Our March Wine Dinner is next week, so if you're thinking of coming be sure to reserve early: 371-7976.

The Times They Are A-Changin'
More changes coming our way!
As we transition to our new space in Argenta this summer, we will now only offer dinner at our current space on Friday nights. No more Saturday night dinners. Saturday nights have never been steady for us, and unfortunately we've never gotten them off the ground enough to even break even. And, with such a small staff, we just can't work everyone 7 days a week. We all need a day off. So, since we're now open for Sunday Brunch, we're closing on Saturday nights.
Speaking of Sunday Brunch-- it's a hit! Each week is better than the last, and yesterday our Sunday Brunch sales were higher than 3 of our Lunches last week! Why hadn't we thought of this sooner???
We have 2 private dinners this week at the cafe'-- one on Wednesday, the other on Thursday nights. This is what we are aiming to do is to book as many private dinners as we can. So if you have a party coming up and want the whole award-winning restaurant to yourself, just give me a call: 372-7976.

Speaking of Argenta...
I've had a lot of people ask me lately how it's going in Argenta.
It's rolling right along.
Our architects/designers are meeting with the Historical Commission this Thursday to hopefully get the plans passed and start the construction. Because the building is on the National Historic Registry, everything has to be passed first. But, as of right now, we're still on schedule to open in June. Of course, it all depends on how fast the construction goes, and judging from our last experience in our current space, it could take longer than planned as electricians, plumbers, and contractors seem to work on their own schedules :{
In any case, we will be up and running in Argenta in Summer 2008, barring any major snags between now and then.

The News is Out!
Big News! We won Runner-Up for Best Overall Restaurant in the 2008 Arkansas Times Readers' Choice Awards! Hooray! Brave New, Trios, Ferneau are the other winners in Best Overall Restaurant-- we're in good company! Nothing like a great round of free press, and it's great to be recognized by our customers.
The issue comes out this Thursday, so we are planning on rocking and rolling this weekend (including Valentine's Day Dinner), so if you're planning on coming in for dinner, be sure to call and get a reservation.
We hope to ride this great wave of publicity as we transition from downtown Little Rock to Argenta North Little Rock.
